A youthful obsession with Proust’s autobiographical novel A La Recherce de Temps Perdus / Remembrance of Things Past produced the germ of this book, which deals (less exhaustively than Proust!) with the jealousies, deceptions and self-deceptions between lovers. David James was born in London and has spent much of his life teaching abroad. He has attended universities in London, British Columbia and Leeds to obtain degrees in English Language and Literature, English and American Literature and Linguistics and Phonetics.
