The Lincolnshire Tramp

Joseph Albert Glasson was an
amiable man not wont to harm
any living creature. He lived
contentedly with his wife in a
comfortable house and although
not ambitious, he had a steady job
to which he applied himself most
diligently.
Fate, that mistress of fortune, took
a sudden aversion to Joe and
began to meddle in his affairs with
disastrous consequences. His life
was thrown into turmoil and as
events started to overtake him, he
realised that he was powerless to
do anything about them.
Gradually everything that he had
worked for began slipping
through his fingers. On a cold
January morning he came to terms
with his destiny — he had become
a penniless vagrant.
For the next five years Joe roamed
the southern counties of England
with his heart set on revenge. He
respected neither man not beast
and spread misery wherever he
went.
Once again Fate in the guise of a
serious accident was set to alter
the course of Joe’s existence.
Ahead lay salvation. All that was
required was the courage to reach
out and seize it.
